Loan defaulters are shameless: Muhith

Special Correspondent: Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith said loan defaulters of our country are shameless. Their attitude has yet not been changed. It is very unfortunate that they are not sincere to return loan money.

The Minister said this a meeting with leaders of the International Business Forum of Bangladesh (IBFB) at the conference room of the Finance Ministry at the Secretariat on Thursday.

He said, “Once I asked a businessman why you are not paying the loan money. He told me that he would not pay it as he suffered much to get the loan. Still their attitude is unchanged.”

Muhith also said that he is making a report in light of his long experience in the financial sector to give necessary guidelines to his successors, which will help reduce the Non-Performing Loan (NPL).

He said the report is likely to be completed in November this year and it will give necessary suggestions to reduce the number of loan defaulters.
