Man arrested for allegedly student abduction

Staff Correspondent: Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested a madrasa teacher for allegedly abducting his one of students.

Law enforcers also rescued the abducted student Samir.

The arrestee was known as Mainul, a teacher of local madrasa of Sonapur in Noakhali. He was arrested from Dhaka airport station on Friday afternoon.

Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police of RAB-3 said this on Saturday afternoon.

According to RAB, Mainul was tutor of Samir when he was in Dhaka. Though Mainul left Dhaka for Noakhali for the sake of his job, he continued contact with the family over mobile phone. With a plan of abduction, he came to Dhaka day after the Eid. On the day, Samir was playing at Madhubag playground in the afternoon. Then, Mainul lured him and took him far away. Later, he fled the area with Samir.

Mainul kept Samir in a resident in the capital. He left a chit in the microbus of Samir’s father Kawser, demanding Tk 50,000 as ransom. Mainul also noted two mobile numbers on the chit. Kawser later contacted RAB RAB said.

Kawser phoned Mainul and agreed to pay Tk 50,000. Mainul asked him to come to the airport station. RAB arrested then Mainul from the station, according to the elite force.
