Staff Correspondent: Locals on Saturday noon caught a man with fire arms at the capital's Hatirjheel area while he was fleeing away after reportedly shooting a man in Merul Badda.

The arms-holder was known as Nurul Islam, 38. He shot a man named Badsha in Merul Badda's fish market area who later succumbed in Dhaka Medical College and Hosptial in the evening.

Kazi Wazed Ali, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Badda Police Station, confirmed the news.

He said, "Several miscreants shot Badsha from very near around 1:00pm. Locals caught one of them named Nurul Islam with rival bar at Hatirjheel while fleeing and gave him a good thrashing.

Nurul Islam who sustained injuries in thrashing was admitted to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), he added.

"Several cases were filed against Nurul Islam. He and Badsha are of same group. Nurul might have shot Badsha over internal feud. There were also three more people. They managed to flee," The OC said.
