Marcel slashes LED TVs prices substantially

Economic Reporter: The local electronics and electrical appliances manufacturer ‘Marcel’ slashed the prices of its various models of LED televisions substantially, ranging from Tk 800 to Tk 3,100, following the winter season and the celebration of new year. The reduced the prices have been put into effect from the first day of the current month.

As per the new offer, the price of Marcel brand 19-inch LED TV is now sold at Tk 8,990, reduced Tk 910 from its previous price of Tk 9,900.  By reducing the earlier price of 20-inch LED TV by Tk 1,000, Marcel fixed the new price at Tk 10,900. Price of 24-inch LED TV is now fixed at 13,700 after reducing the earlier price by Tk 800. The customers can now buy a Marcel brand 28-inch LED TV at Tk 15,900 while they had to pay Tk 17,900 earlier. After slashing the previous price of 32-inch LED TV by Tk 3,100, the new price is set at Tk 18,800. Besides, prices of Marcel  brand 39, 40, 43, 49 and 55-inch LED TV are now fixed at Tk 30,900; Tk 33,700; Tk 42900; Tk 57,900 and Tk 70,900.

Dwelling on the reduction of LED TV prices, the Marcel engineers said, there are some factors like production increase in factory with the demand hike for Marcel brand LED TV, increase of productivity level following the addition of the state-of-the art technologies and machineries, production of various sorts of necessary raw materials, which led the television production cost to be gone down and thus the company has been able to cut down the prices of its LED televisions substantially.

Application of world’s latest technology in Marcel LED TVs is resulted in slashing the prices, along with further improving the quality of produced televisions by following ‘zero tolerance’ policy, they added.

The marketing representatives of Marcel said affordable rates, assurance of world-class standard, eye-catching designs and colours, six months replacement warranty, two years warranty for LED panel and other spare parts, 5 years free service facility, installment facility up to maximum 36 months, nationwide sales and service points are resulted in gaining huge customers’ popularity.

Mosharraf Hossain Razib, head of marketing (North) of Marcel, said, the sales of Marcel  brand LED televisions have been increased by about 315 percent in the current year compared to the previous year’s sales. Along with the increase of sales, the production also went up proportionately, he said adding, the production cost went down at the factory. As a result, Marcel has been  able to slash the prices of its produced LED TVs.

Shamim Al Mamun, marketing head (South) of Marcel, said, the prices of LED TVs were reduced as a gift of the company towards its customers following the “Happy New Year.” He also hoped that the brand would be able to secure the premier position in the local television market in next year.

Engr. Md Ishaque Rony, first senior assistant director of television sourcing engineering of Marcel, said, the continuous improvement in electronics, optical and mechanical sides of the television sectors led Marcel to invent next generation’s Quantum Dot backlight system SpectraQ TV, which would increase the range of colours by 98-99 percent than the televisions with normal technology based panel system. He hoped that its latest invention SpectraQ TV would be come into the market by the middle of the next year.

The Marcel officials said, separate manufacturing lines were set up at Marcel Micro-Tech Corporation at Chandra in Gazipur for producing plastic cabinet, speaker, remote control, mother board, electric power cable and LED TV panel. After commencing the local production of LED TV, Marcel has been able to cut down the prices of LED television gradually.
