Mastermind of Noakhali gang-rape held

Noakhali Correspondent: Police have detained five persons including the main planner of gang-raping a mother-of-four in Subarnachar upazila on the night of Election Day.

Ruhul Amin was nabbed in a drive carried out at an abandoned house in North Wapda area under the Sadar upazila on Thursday night.

In another drive, police arrested one Bechu from Khajuria area in Senbug upazila, at the same night.

Earlier, police arrested Badsha Alam from Charbajuli on Tuesday while prime accused Sohel from Cumilla district and Md Swapan from Ramgati upazila.

Ruhul Amin, a former member of Char Jubilee Union Parishad, is the publicity secretary of Subarnachar upazila unit Awami League.

The woman said some 10-12 men carrying sticks entered her home by cutting the surrounding fence after the midnight of December 31.  They raped her after tying her husband and children at her residence.

The victim claimed that all the attackers were followers of Ruhul Amin.
 
The husband of the woman filed a case with Char Jabbar Police Station, accusing nine persons except Ruhul Amin.

Sources said main perpetrator Ruhul Amin influenced the case filling, to skip his name for evading charges.
