Staff Correspondent: The Supreme Court (SC) has stayed the High Court (HC) order for five more weeks that declared mobile courts under executive magistrates as unconstitutional.
As a result, there is no bar to lead mobile courts by the executive magistrates during the period, said lawyers.
A four-member bench of the Appellate Division headed by the Acting Chief Justice Abdul Wahab Mia passed the order on Wednesday.
Barrister Hassan SM Azim moved for the writ petition while Attorney General Mahbubey Alam and Deputy Attorney General Motahar Hossain Sazu represented the state in the court.
Earlier on May 11, the High Court declared unconstitutional the rules under which executive magistrates run mobile courts.
