'Mobile tower radiation unsafe, harmful for health'

Staff Correspondent: Radiation from cellphone towers in Bangladesh is unsafe and harmful for public health, reports revealed.

Health Ministry prepared the report after examining radiation from some mobile towers in Dhaka city.

Deputy Attorney General Kazi Jinat Haque placed the report before the High Court on Wednesday. Later, that was submitted before the court as affidavit. 

An HC bench comprising of Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed and Justice Md Salim fixed Wednesday (March 29) for hearing in this issue.

Human Right and Peace for Bangladesh filed a writ petition over radiation from cellphone towers in 2012.

Following the matter, the High Court (HC), asked the chairman of Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission to inspect the radiation after visiting some towers of different mobile phones and to submit a report to it.
