'More than Tk a crore will be sought for Rajib'

Staff Correspondent: The compensation case filed for Government Titumir College student Rajib Hossain, who died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital early Tuesday after getting his right arm stuck between two buses in the city, will be run in the High Court (HC), said lawyer Barrister Ruhul Kuddus Kajal.

He told risingbd that the death of Rajib will be brought before the court after vacation of the Supreme Court (SC).  Tk one crore was sought in a writ petition when he was lost his arm. The court also issued a rule in this regard.

"Now the amount of compensation will be sought more as he died succumbing to his injuries. For this, a supplementary petition will be filed," the lawyer said.

On April 3, Rajib Hossain, a 2nd year student of Govt Titumir College, was going to attend his classes by a double-decker bus of Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BTRC). He was standing on the rear gate dangling his right hand outside as the bus was overcrowded.

When the bus got stranded at the Sonargaon crossing near Panthakunja park, a 'Sajan Paribahan' bus tried to make its way through the narrow space in between the BRTC bus and the footpath. However, Rajib's right hand was pressed in between the two buses and got severed from the elbow.

Being rescued, the victim was first taken to MH Samorita Hospital at Panthapath and then shifted to the DMCH.
