Mugger killed in Mymensingh gunfight

Staff Correspondent, Mymensingh: A suspected mugger also drug pedller was killed in a gunfight with detectives in Madrasa Mach Bazar area of the district town early Saturday.

The deceased was identified as Kalachand alias Abdus Salam.

Ashikur Rahman, officer-in-charge of district DB police said police in a drive detained the drug trader along with 50 pieces of Yaba pills and a sharp weapon from Patgudam area around 2:00am.

Later, 7-8 miscreants opened fire aiming the law enforcers and tried to snatch Kalachand around 2:30am. In reply, the detectives opened fire which triggered the gun battle, leaving the drug peddler bullet injured.

The injured was rushed to Mymensingh Medical College and Hospital where doctors declared him dead.

Meanwhile, a sharp weapon and two bullet shells were recovered from the spot.
