Satkhira Correspondent: 13-year-old Muktamoni diagnosed with a tumour in the blood vessels of her right hand was laid to rest beside the grave of her grandfather after she died at her residence in Dakkhin Kamar Baisha village in Sadar upazila of Satkhira on Wednesday morning.

She was buried at her family graveyard on completion of her namaz-e-janaza after Jahr prayers.

Earlier around 7:30am, she breathed her last at her home in Kamar Baisha village of Satkhira sadar upazila¸ Muktamoni's father Ibrahim Hossain said.

The physical condition of Muktamoni was critical for last several days.

Ibrahim Hossain, a grocery shop owner of Kamar Baisa village in Sadar upazila of Satkhira, said, “The infection in her hand spread all over. Bad odor came out from her hand when the bandage was pulled off for dressing.”

Severe bleeding occurred when dressing was done, said her father.

Muktamoni's right hand had completely been decomposed, said her father.

On July 11, 2017, Muktamoni was admitted to the hospital with a malignant growth on her right arm.

Later, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina took the responsibility of Muktamoni’s treatment.

On August 12, 2017, doctors at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) removed a 3kg tumour from her arm after a biopsy showed the growth to be in the artery of her hand.

The girl later underwent three more consecutive surgeries on her right arm on August 29, September 5, and October 8, 2017.

According to her father Ibrahim, Muktamoni and her twin sister Hiramoni were a pair of healthy baby girls during their birth but a wart appeared on her right arm when Muktamoni was around 18-month-old.
