NSI ex-DG arrested on charge of war crimes

Staff Correspondent: Former Director General (DG) of National Security Intelligence (NSI) M Wahidul Haque, 69, has been arrested in a case filed over his alleged involvement in committing crimes against humanity during the Liberation War in 1971.
He was arrested from a residence in the capital’s Baridhara area around 12:30pm on Tuesday.
Motiur Rahman, who is investigating the case, said Wahidul Haque will be produced before International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) tomorrow.
Earlier, an arrest warrant was issued against Wahidul Haque on charge of committing crimes against humanity during the Liberation War in 1971.
A two-member bench of International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) headed by Justice Amir Hossain passed the order on Tuesday.
International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) Prosecutor Barrister Turin Afroz confirmed the matter.
Wahidul is found to be involved in killing some 600 persons at Rangpur Cantonment on March 28 in 1971, said Turin Afroz.
