National intellectual property policy to be finalised soon

Economic Correspondent: Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu said the national intellectual property policy will be finalised soon for the creation and protection of intellectual properties.
The Minister said this while speaking as the chief guest at a seminar at the auditorium of the Centre on Integrated Rural Development for Asia and the Pacific (CIRDAP) marking “the World Intellectual Property Day” on Thursday.
"Although this matter had long been ignored, but following the directives from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the industries ministry has already prepared a draft of the national intellectual property policy. In consultation with the concerned stakeholders, this policy will be finalized," said the minister.
Agriculture Minister Begum Matia Chowdhury spoke at the seminar as special guest with Industries Secretary Mohammad Abdullah in the chair.
Trim Tex Bangladesh Limited proprietor Sahida Parvin presented the key-note paper at the seminar while DPDT register M Sanowar Hossain gave the welcome address. Creative women entrepreneurs, professionals, technologists, educationists, industrialists and business leaders took part in the discussion.
The industries minister said the proposed national intellectual property policy would highlight the issue of wider women's participation and increasing sponsorship by the government.
