New CEC should resign: Rizvi

Staff Correspondent: BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi opined that the new Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) should resign.

The BNP leader made the opinion while addressing a programme on the occasion of 30th death anniversary of student leader Mirza Abu Raihan Jaglu in Tangail on Wednesday noon.

Rizvi said, "We said search committee will form a CEC which reflects the Sheikh Hasina's mentality. Finally we got the same result."

He also said, "Awami League is in power today. If they had minimum sense of democracy, they would take steps to hold an election with all political parties."

The chief of the government and Awami League do not want democracy, he added.

Tangail District Chhatra Dal president Rashedul Alam presided over the programme where Central BNP Swecchasebak Dal general secretary Mir Sarafat Ali Sapu, District BNP General Secretary Shamsul Alam Tofa spoke.
