New gas field found in Bhola

Senior Correspondent: Bangladesh Petroleum Exploration and Production Company Limited (BAPEX) has discovered a new natural gas reserve in Bheduria under Sadar upazila of Bhola.

This is the 27th gas reserve in the country. About 1.5 trillion cubic feet (TCF) gas would be found in the newly discovered gas field.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina made the disclosure while addressing the regular cabinet meeting on Monday noon, said Cabinet Secretary Shafiul Alam.

On December 9, BAPEX started drilling task named Bhola North-1 at Majhirhat of Bheduria union. Russian company Gazprom International and American company Halliburton are providing assistance in this project.

Earlier, BAPEX discovered another major gas field at Shahbazpur in Bhola.
