Newborn’s head cut off: Comilla civil surgeon among 7 summoned

Staff Correspondent: The High Court (HC) has summoned civil surgeon of Comilla, director of Comilla Medical and five physicians involved in the incident of cutting off a woman’s uterus along with her newborn child’s head during cesarean operation.

The HC also issued a rule asking the authority concern as to why steps should not be taken against the people involved in the incident.

The bench of Justice Salma Masud Chowdhury and Justice AKM Jahirul Haqu passed the order on Sunday.

The court asked the seven people to appear in persons before it on April 4.

The HC bench came up with the suo-moto order taking incognisance a report published in a daily “Doctor Duikhando Korlen Nobojatok ke” (Physician beheads newborn”.
