'No 31st night programmes on rooftops'

Secretariat Correspondent: Home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said no programmes can be held this year on the 31st night on rooftops alongside outdoor spaces on the occasion of the New Year due to the forthcoming general election scheduled to be held on December 30.

The home boss made the remark while speaking to reporters on Sunday after holding a meeting on the safety during the celebration of Christmas Day and English New Year.

Moreover, all sorts of gatherings, playing loud music, dancing, concerts, fireworks, crackers, balloons are also not allowed on 31st night, the minister added.

Asked about the role of the law enforcers during the celebration, the minister said they will remain busy with the election activities and will work as per the instructions of the Election Commission.
