'No Army during Rangpur city polls'

Staff Correspondent, Savar: Election Commissioner (EC) Gen (Retd) Shahadat Hossain Chowdhury said that no decision has yet been taken to deploy army during the Rangpur City Corporation polls scheduled to be held on December 21. The law enforcement agencies are enough to hold the election in free and fair manners.

The EC said this attending the Smart National ID distribution programme at Savar Upazila Parishad on Wednesday noon.

When asked over Army deployment during the next general election, he said all measures would be taken to hold the election in free and fair manners. It cannot be said certainly over the Army deployment before a year ago of the election.
