No bar to rejoin office for mayor Mannan

Staff Correspondent: The Supreme Court (SC) has upheld a High Court (HC) order that stayed the suspension order of Gazipur City Corporation (GCC) mayor MA Mannan, clearing the way for him to rejoin office.

A four-member Appellate Division bench of SC headed by Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha passed the order on Wednesday morning.

With the order, there is no bar to rejoin office, said Mannan's lawyers.

Barrister Mahbub Uddin Khokon moved for mayor Mannan while Attorney General Mahbubey Alam represented the state in the court.
