Senior Correspondent: BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has opined that there is no hope of a neutral Election Commission as the search committee has been made with persons loyal to Awami League.
The BNP secretary general said this to journalists after placing wreaths at the mazar of party founder Ziaur Rahman along with the new committee of Juba Dal at Sher-e-Banglanagar in the city on Saturday noon.
“Filled by those loyal to Awami League family, it will be not possible for this search committee to constitute a neutral next Election Commission,” Fakhrul said.
“The government wants for form another subservient Election Commission like the one led by incumbent Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Rakibuddin Ahmad,” he added.
BNP leaders Aman Ullah Aman, Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Fazlul Haq Milon, Mir Newaj Ali Newaj, Saiful Alam Nirob and Sultan Salah Uddin Tuku were also present.
