Staff Correspondent: Attorney General Mahbubey Alam said there is no legal bar to demolish the Gulshan house of BNP Standing Committee Member Moudud Ahmed from where he was evicted earlier this month.
Mahbubey Alam made the statement at a media briefing at his home following the drive carried out by Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (Rajuk) to demolish the one-storey building on Plot-159 on Gulshan Avenue on Sunday.
“The Appellate Division’s decision is clear – the paperwork for the property was gained through trickery. [Moudud] has filed other cases, but these were after his eviction. There are no legal hurdles to the demolition of the property because of these cases,” the government’s chief law officer told the media briefing.
Earlier around 9:00am in the day, the Rajuk started taking down BNP leader Moudud Ahmed's house of Gulshan.
Senior BNP leader Moudud Ahmed was evicted from his three-decade-long residence on June 7 as he lost the legal battle over the ownership of the house worth Tk 300 crore in the capital's Gulshan.
