Risingbd Desk: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said the upcoming parliamentary election must be held (in time) and no one can resist it. “No one has the capability to foil the election.”
“There is always conspiracy and it will remain and people will foil all the conspiracies. We have to work and it should not be right to sit at home receiving threats from anyone,” she said while addressing a press conference at her official residence Ganobhaban.
The press conference was arranged to brief the media about the outcomes of her just-concluded visit to Nepal for attending the 4th Bimstec summit.
The Prime Minister has also spoken against hasty imposition of electronic voting machines (EVMs) in the upcoming parliamentary elections.
In reply to a query by journalists, she said, “We had election promises among which one is to build Bangladesh as a digital country. EVM use in the elections is the part of it. But, I am against the hasty imposition of EVMs in the upcoming parliamentary elections.”
The Prime Minister paid a visit to Nepal on August 30 and 31 to attend the two-day summit of the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (Bimstec), a seven-nation economic bloc of the South Asia and South East Asia.
The seven Bimstec member states are Bangladesh, India, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Bhutan, and Nepal.
