No voting environment in 3 cities: BNP

Staff Correspondent: BNP's Joint Secretary General Barrister AM Mahbub Uddin Khokon has expressed dissatisfaction over the environment for the voting in Rajshahi, Barishal and Sylhet city corporations which is scheduled to be held tomorrow.

“There is no environment conducive to holding elections to the three city corporations. We are not satisfied with this environment at all,” the BNP leader said.

The BNP leader came up with the comment after holding a meeting with Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda at the Election Bhaban in the capital's Agargaon on Sunday.

Alleging that police are doing excess in the polling areas, Khokon said, “We have handed a list of their party leaders and activists arrested to the CEC. The situation which has been created in the three cities is like the ones in Khulna and Gazipur.”

“Arrests are being made in the cities defying the directions issued by the court and the EC. Our party leaders and activists are being arrested without any warrant,” he alleged.

Earlier, a BNP delegation met with Chief Election Commissioner KM Nurul Huda to inform about the current situation of the voting environment.
