Now admission to college based on merits

Secretariat Correspondent: The Education Ministry has finalised the policy for admission to higher secondary schools in the 2018-19 session. As per the policy, this time, 100 per cent seats will be filled up based on merits.
Those who will apply under various quotas will be given admission to additional seats after the admission based on merits.
The education policy for Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSC) admission was finalised on Monday at a meeting of the education ministry presided over by Md Sohrab Hossain, secretary of secondary and higher education division.
There is 11 per cent quota for admission at the HSC level, with 5 per cent for children and grandchildren of freedom fighters, 3 per cent for students from outside the districts sadar, 2 per cent for offspring of employees of education ministry departments and teachers at HSC level, 0.5 per cent for Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishtan (BKSP) and 0.5 for expatriates.
According to the education policy, a student will be allowed to apply to a minimum of 5 colleges and maximum 10.
The students can apply online or through SMS. The applications will start on May 13 and will close on May 24, the policy reads.
The results of the HSC level admission will be published on 10 June as per the new policy.
The admission activities will continue between June 27 and June 30 as the classes will start on July 1 every year.
However, the results of SSC and equivalent examinations of this year will be published on May 6.
