Now dowry case filed against Arafat Sunny

Staff Correspondent: A day after his arrest over a case under the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Act, Bangladesh national team cricketer Arafat Sunny has been sued under the Dowry Prohibition Act.

Nasrin Sultana, who claims herself to be the wife of Sunny, filed the case with the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Raihanul Islam on Monday.

She alleged that Sunny claimed dowry of Tk. 20 lakh from her.

Sunny and his mother Nargis Akter have been made defendants in the case.

The court issued a notice summoning them to appear before it.

Earlier on Sunday, Police arrested Sunny from his residence at Dhaka’s Aminbazar area in a ICT case filed against him by his Nasrin Sultana with Mohammadpur Police Station on January 5.

Later, a court granted one-day police remand for Sunny.
 
The 29-year old cricketer played 16 One Day International and 10 T20 international matches for Bangladesh.
