Obaidul Quader urges transport workers to withdraw strike

Senior Correspondent: Road transport and bridges minister Obaidul Quader urged the transport workers to withdraw the ongoing strike.

Obaidul Quader made the call while addressing newsmen after a meeting with European Union ambassador at Setu Bhaban in the capital on Sunday.

Aiming the transport workers, he said, "Withdraw the strike. There is no point in causing suffering to the people."

He said, “There are no opportunities to change the law at the moment,” he said. “It is not possible. They must wait until the next parliament. If there are any legitimate concerns then they can be addressed through discussion.”

About newly formed Oikya Front, Obaidul Quader said, "It is typical for the opposition to be a critical. The task of opposition is to criticize. They have put seven point demands. If the government wants to meet the 7-point demands then the government would have to bring change in the constitution. That’s not possible."
