Oikyafront proved to be ineffective: Muhith

Desk Report: Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith has said that the parties under the new political alliance Jatiya Oikyafront have already been proved to be ineffective before the country’s people.

“The Jatiya Oikyafront may put a slight impact in the country’s politics since they are with BNP, but Awami League will become victorious in the next general election,” he said.

The finance minister said this while responding to the queries of journalists on Sylhet Circuit House Compound after a function marking the laying of foundation stones of three development projects involving Taka 125 crore in the city on Thursday.

Referring to the development of Sylhet, Muhith said he does not consider whom is the mayor representing from which party. “Whatever developments have been carried out in Sylhet……………is the development done by me……and everyone will have to acknowledge it."

Sylhet City Corporation Mayor Ariful Haque Chowdhury, Sylhet metropolitan Awami League general secretary Asad Uddin Ahmed, City Corporation Chief Engineer Nur Azizur Rahman spoke, among others, on the occasion. _BSS
