Oikyafront to hold rally in Dhaka Dec 27

Senior Correspondent: Jatiya Oikyafront (JOF) has announced to hold a rally in the capital at 2:00pm on December 27, just three days to remain to left of holding the 11th general election.

Chief leader of the alliance, also president of Gono Forum Dr. Kamal Hossain came up with the announcement on in an urgent press briefing at its make-shift office at the capital’s Paltan on Friday evening.

He said, “JOF will hold rally at Suhrawardy Udyan in Dhaka at 2:00pm on December 27. Besides this, the alliance will hold rallies and mass processions at every electoral area of Dhaka-4 to Dhaka-18 on December 21 to December 24. All these programmes will be held at the same time.”

When asked whether they got permission to hold rally at Suhrawardy Udyan, Dr. Kamal said, “Securing the matter permission does not belong to me. We will inform them. Holding rally is the constitutional right. They can foil it if they want.”

BNP joint secretary general Moazzem Hossain Alal said, “In this case, we generally inform the authorities concern.”

Why asked about ban on holding rally imposed by EC, Alal said, “If EC said something like that, they did not tell it in line with laws.”
