One held with 85,000 Yaba tablets in Chattogram

Staff Correspondent, Chattogram: Detectives in a drive arrested a suspected drug trader along with 85,000 Yaba tablets from a covered van at Firingi Bazar Bridge ghat on Wednesday night.

The arrestee is Md Rafiqul Islam.

SM Mostain Hossain, a deputy commissioner of the Detective Branch of Chattogram Metropolitan Police, confirmed the recovery of Yaba tablets at a press briefing on Thursday.

Mostain Hossain said that on secret information, a team of Detective Branch (DB) of police conducted the drive in front of Mamtaz Hotel near BIWTA office at night and halted a covered van on suspicion.

Later, the team recovered the Yaba tablets from the covered van and arrested Rafiqul.

In primary investigation, Rafiqul revealed that the consignment of Yaba tablets was bought from Ramu in Cox’s Bazar for supplying those to Dhaka.

A case has been filed against Rafiqul with Kotwali Police Station in this connection and the covered van has been seized.
