Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq
Senior Correspondent: Minister of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Anisul Huq said that only the President has the right to appoint new Chief Justice.
The Minister made the opinion while replying to a question at his secretariat office on Monday noon.
He said, "I can say that only the President has the right to appoint Chief Justice according to the Bangladesh constitution. As a president, he does two tasks- he appoints Prime Minister and Chief Justice."
"This is his (President) duty. Only he can say when he will do it (appointment of new Chief Justice)," Anisul Huq said.
In reply to another question, he said that the Law will run its course. Nobody is above the law.
