Only prayer mats allowed at Eidgah: Police

Staff Correspondent: Dr Mohammad Javed Patwary, Inspector General of Police has asked the city dwellers to bring only the prayer mats (Janamaz) at the Eid jamaat to be held in city’s different places on the day of Eid-ul-Azha.

However, the attendees will be allowed to possess umbrella in case of rain.

The IGP made the assertion while addressing reporters after visiting security measures at National Eidgah on Sunday afternoon.

He said three to four-tier security measures have been taken. Special Branch (SB), DMP members and other detectives will be deployed outside of the Eidgah.

He also said a total of 85 CCTV cameras have been installed to ensure security while control will check the footages of the cameras.
