PM inaugurates Bangabandhu tunnel work

Staff Correspondent: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the work of the much-awaited Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Tunnel under the Karnaphuli River opening up a new horizon in the country’s communication system.

The Prime Minister launched the boring work of the tunnel by unveiling its plaque at a function at Patenga in Chattogram around 11:15am on Sunday. Meanwhile, she also inaugurated the construction Elevated Express Way.

Earlier the Premier arrived in Chattogram around 11:00am.

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader, Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud, Housing and Public Works Minister SM Rezaul Karim, Chattogram Development authority chairman Abdus Salam, former housing minister also MP engineer Mosharraf Hossain and others attended the function.
