'PM will give roadmap for solving Rohingya crisis'

Cox's Bazar Correspondent: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina would chalk out a roadmap to solve the Rohingya problem triggered by the fleeing of Rohingyas to Bangladesh in the face of torture by Myanmar army, said Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader.

The AL leader said this while talking to reporters after distributing relief goods at Rohingya refugee camps in Ukhia of Cox's Bazar on Monday afternoon.

"Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will come here tomorrow and she will pay a visit on the spot. She will give a roadmap to solve the Rohingya problem. This problem will be solved through her courageous step", Quader said.

Presently, the government is faced with a huge number of Rohingyas besides floods in the country's northern parts, haor catastrophe and floods in the coast, the minister said.

So far, more than three lakh Rohingyas fled to Bangladesh in last two weeks in order to escape torture by Myanmar army, he added.

Quader said the BNP leaders have not yet come to see Rohingya refugees. "Even if they come, they will come for photo-session. But we have stood beside the Rohingyas from day one."

The minister said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina started diplomatic moves from the very first day on the Rohingya issue and these would continue.

Awami League Joint General Secretary Mahbub Ul Alam Hanif, Organizing Secretary Enamul Haque Shamim, Relief Secretary Sujit Roy Nandi, Deputy Publicity Secretary Aminul Islam, Deputy Office Secretary Biplob Barua and local MP Abdur Rahman Badi were present.
