Passenger detained with 1 kg gold in Ctg

Staff Correspondent, Chattogram: The airport customs authority has detained a passenger returning from Dubai for attempting to smuggle in one kilogram of gold bars concealed in his rectum.

The detainee is identified as Sumon Das, a resident of Fatikchhari Upazila in Chattogram.

Chattogram Customs Assistant Commissioner Uttam Biswas told risingbd.com that the passenger arrived in Shah Amanat International Airport around 10:00am on Wednesday, on board Air Arabia Airlines flight.

The suspect was called in for a search due to suspicious activity. Later, eight gold bars were recovered from his rectum.

The gold weighed 1kg and its estimated market price was Tk 45 lakh.
