Peaceful election to be held: EC secretary

Staff Correspondent: Election Commission (EC) secretary Helal Uddin Ahmed said that there is no fear over polls. The election will be held peacefully across the country.

He said this in a briefing at media centre of Nirbachan Bhaban in the capital’s Agargaon on Friday evening.

EC secretary said, “No vehicles will run without prior permission of EC on election day. However, vehicles of law enforcement agencies, government, service organisations like fire service, ambulance and press will remain out of the preview of the ban.”

In reply to a query, Helal Uddin said, “I do not know whether BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has applied for postal ballot to cast her vote. Returning officer (RO) concerned can tell the matter properly.”
