Petition against AG scrapped

Staff Correspondent: The High Court (HC) has ruled out a writ petition challenging the legality of holding post by Attorney general Mahbubey Alam.

 

A High Court bench of Justice Naima Haider and Justice Abu Taher Mohammad Saifur Rahman passed the writ petition after hearing on Tuesday.

 

According to the court statement, there is no bar to hold the post by the Attorney general as per the constitution and existing law although his age has exceeded 67 years.

 

Additional Attorney General Murad Reza represented Attorney general Mahbubey Alam while advocate Yunus Ali Akanda stood for the petitioner in the court.

 

Advocate Yunus Ali Akanda, a lawyer of the Supreme Court, filed the writ petition.
