'Petition to be filed seeking stay Khaleda's punishment'

Staff Correspondent: The Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) President Advocate Zainul Abedin said a petition will be filed with the High Court (HC) seeking stay the punishment against BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia handed down by the Special Court-5 in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.
He said told this to the reporters at his office of the Supreme Court after verdict on Thursday.
Khaleda's lawyer Zainul Abedin said,"We will firstly file a petition against the verdict. Then, we will move for stay of the punishment and bail to Khaleda Zia."
In reply to a query, Zainul Abedin said, "There is now no question over election. No schedule has yet been announced for the election. There is no legal bar to contest in the polls if the punishment is stayed."
