Pirate killed in Patharghata gunfight

Barguna Correspondent: A suspected pirate was killed in a gunfight with Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in Majher Char area under Patharghata upazila of Barguna early Saturday.

The deceased was identified as Kajal. However, details about him could not be known immediately.

RAB-8 Barisal wing commander Hasan Imon Al Razi said acting on tip-off that an organized gang took position to commit robbery in fishing trawler, a team of RAB-8 conducted drive in the area around 5:30am. But, sensing presence of RAB personnel, pirates opened fire aiming the law enforcers. RAB also fired back. At one stage, the pirates fled the scene after one-hour long gunfight.

Later, RAB found a bullet-hit body of the person in the spot.

Three fire arms and three rounds of bullet were recovered, RAB said.
