Poet Belal Chowdhury no more

Staff Correspondent Noted poet Belal Chowdhury is no more.

He passed away around 12:15pm on Tuesday at the city's Anwar Khan Modern Hospital.

The Ekushey Padak winning poet was undergoing treatment the hospital with multiple ailments including kidney problem and anemia and was on life support since Friday.

Belal Chowdhury is one of the powerful poets of the 60's.

He is also a prominent article writer, and translator. He had long been served "Bharat Bichitra" as its editor published from Indian embassy in Dhaka.

He was also an editor of the 'Saptahik Sandwip'published by Rupali Group.

He also did job in the Krittibas, a Bengali poetry magazine, edited by Sunil Gangopadhyay while he was residing in India.

Belal Chowdhury’s books include ‘Nishad Prodeshe’, ‘Atmoprotikriti’, ‘Sthirjibon O Nisorgo’, ‘Swapnabondi’, ‘Selai Kora Chhaya’, ‘Kobitar Kamolbone’, ‘Jabojjibon Sashram Ullase’ and ‘Batrish Nombor’.
