Police-BNP clash in Ctg: 25 injured, 20 held

Staff Correspondent, Chittagong: At least 25 people including 10 cops have been injured as BNP activists locked into clash with law enforcers in Chittagong over Khaleda Zia's verdict.

Police detained BNP’s Chittagong city unit President Shahadat Hossain among 20 during the skirmish.

The incident took place in front of BNP office of the city's Kazirdeuri in the city from Thursday noon to afternoon.

The other detainees include  the city BNP women affairs secretary Begum Lutfur Nesa, senior joint secretary of Mohila Dal Akhi Sultana, joint secretary Arzu Nahar Manna, organizing secretary Atia Akter Usha,  publicity secretary Dewan Mahmuda Akter Lita, convener of the district (south) Mohila Dal Jannatul Nayeem Riku and joint convener Selina Haque.

Jasim Uddin, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kotwali Police Station, confirmed news of clash and detainees.

He said, "At least 10 cops were injured as BNP men launched an unprovoked attack on them."
