Police face challenges every day: IGP

Staff Correspondent: Newly appointed Inspector General of Police (IGP) Javed Patwari said cops have to face challenges from the very beginning day of their joining.
The IGP came up with the comment in reply to a query after emerging from a meeting with Election Commission (EC) held at Election Building (Nirbachan Bhaban) of the capital's Agargaon on Thursday.
The meeting chaired by the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) K M Nurul Huda was held over the by-polls of Gaibandha-1 and Brahmanbaria-1 scheduled to be held on March 13.
IGP said, "As facing challenge is a routine work for police, we cordially face it with professionalism under laws."
He said, "Arranging polls is duty for Election Commission (EC). EC issues all directives during the election. Police carry out duties to protect law and order situation along with lives and properties of people. We will follow how the EC would instruct us."
In reply to a query, he said, "We will take actions if any unwanted situation would happen anywhere."
