Poll schedule in first week of November: Obaidul

Secretariat Correspondent: Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader said the schedule for the upcoming parliamentary polls will be announced in the first week of November.

Obaidul Quader made the assertion while addressing a press conference at his secretariat office in the capital on Sunday.

He said, according to the Fifth Amendment of the Constitution, election will be held within 90 days prior to the current parliament's dissolution.

There will be no political unrest after announcement of schedule for the parliament election, he said.

The Awami League general secretary also said, “BNP’s demand for a neutral government to oversee the general election goes beyond the constitutional jurisdiction. They’re insisting on it for creating anarchy in a peaceful country.”

There is no necessity of a neutral government as the demand should be made for a neutral election, he added.
