President, PM visit ailing Quader at BSMMU

Senior Correspondent: President M Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Sunday afternoon visited Road Transport and Bridges Minister and ruling Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader who is now undergoing treatment at the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) hospital.

The prime minister went to the BSMMU hospital at about 3:34 pm to see Obaidul Quader who is undergoing treatment at the Coronary Care Unit (CCU) of the hospital following a cardiac arrest.

She stayed at the hospital for over half an hour and enquired about the health condition of the AL general secretary from the on-duty doctors.

The President went to the hospital at about 4.25 pm and enquired about the physical condition of the AL general secretary.

Obaidul Quader was admitted to the BSMMU hospital as he had breathing problem after Fazr prayers.

He has been diagnosed with three blockages in his coronary artery, BSMMU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Kanak Kanti Barua said.

The minister was first taken to Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at 8.30 am and then shifted to the Coronary Care Unit (CCU) of BSMMU, Senior Public Relations Officer Abu Naser of Roads and Highways Division said.
