Pro-AL panel sweeps Dhaka bar council polls

Staff Correspondent: The ruling Awami League-backed white panel has bagged 14 posts including secretary general out of 27 posts of the Dhaka Bar Council elections 2018-19.
BNP-backed blue panel has bagged 13 posts including president post.
Chief Election Commissioner Khondakar Abdul Mannan declared the results of the polls on Saturday midnight.
Golam Mostafa of the blue panel has been elected as president of the council and Abdur Rahman Howladar of while panel elected as general secretary.
A total of 55 candidates contested in the election for 27 posts of the executive members of the Bar Council.
The other winners from the white panel are - Senior Vice-President Kazi Shahanara Yasmin, Vice-President Ruhul Amin, Treasurer Arifur Rahman Chowdhury Sumon, Senior Vice-General Secretary Mostafizur Rahman Talukdar Dipu, Joint General Secretary Md. Kamal Hossain Patwari, Office Secretary Abdur Rashid, Library Secretary M. Moniruzzaman Monir and Executive Members Abdur Rab Khan Pallab, Asaduzzaman Babu, Md. Saifuzzaman Tipu, Sumon Mia, Mirza Md. Jamal Hossain and Sifat Nahar Sumi.
Those have been elected from the blue panel are: Cultural Affairs Secretary Shahnaz Begum Shirin, Social Welfare Secretary MABM Khairul Islam Liton, Sports Secretary Mohammad Khalilur Rahman and Executive Members Ektandar Hossain Howladar Bappi, Hannan Bhuiyan, Zakia Sultana Sweets, Md Muktadir Ahmed Kajol, Md. Zahed ul Alam Joti, Mehdi Hasan Badal, Jebunnesa Khanam Jibon, Sharmin Jahan Shimu and Johura Khatun Juii.
The two-day election held on February 27 and 28.
