Probe body formed over deaths in Ctg stampede

Staff Correspondent: Chattogram district administration has formed a five-member committee over the deaths of 10 women in a stampede in Satkania upazila of the port city on Monday morning.

The body has been asked to submit a report by seven working days.

Md Elias Hossain, deputy commissioner of Chattogram, formed the committee which will be led by additional district magistrate Mashudul Kabir.

The deputy commissioner said the incident might occur due to "mismanagement of the authorities."

A large number of people started gathering since last night as the authorities of Kabir Steel Re-rolling Mills (KSRM) were preparing for distributing iftar items and zakat.

At least ten women died from "heatstroke" and 20 others were injured as over 20,000 people gathered to collect iftar essentials in Satkania upazila of Chattogram this morning.
