Prof Dr Kazi Shahidullah new UGC chairman

Staff Correspondent: Prof Dr Kazi Shahidullah, Supernumerary Professor of History department of Dhaka University, has been appointed as new chairman of the University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina approved an order in this regard on Tuesday. The education ministry will issue the circular soon.

He will be the 13th chairman of the UGC, the statutory apex body for higher education.

Prof Dr Kazi Shahidullah will replace Prof Abdul Mannan, whose tenure ended on May 7.

Earlier, on May 8, Professor Dr Mohammad Yusuf Ali Mollah was appointed as acting chairman of the UGC.
