Proposal to observe Genocide Day on Mar 25 approved

Senior Correspondent: The cabinet approved a proposal to observe March 25 as Genocide Day nationally and internationally to recognise the brutality carried out by the Pakistani Army in the “Black Night” of March 25, 1971.
The approval was given in the regular cabinet meeting with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair on Monday.
Cabinet Secretary M Shafiul Alam told reporters after the cabinet meeting.
When asked whether Genocide Day will be observed this year, he said, “It cannot be said at this moment.”
Earlier, the parliament unanimously adopted a resolution declaring March 25 as Genocide Day during the 14th session on March 11.
