Quota: Ultimatum till 5:00pm, otherwise indefinite strikes

Staff Correspondent: Quota protesters have given the government an ultimatum to publish a gazette notification by abolishing quota system in government jobs as per the Prime Minister’s announcement by 5:00pm on Sunday.
Otherwise, they threatened to begin indefinite strikes from Monday at all universities and colleges across the country.
Hassan Al-Mamun, convener Bangladesh General Students Rights Protection Alliance, came up with the ultimatum.
He said, “We want a gazette notification over quota whether it is cancelled or reformed in accordance with PM’s announcement. It must be published by 5:00pm on Sunday. We will accept the gazette if it issued reflecting our five-point demand. Otherwise, we will start indefinite strikes from Monday.”
Meanwhile, quota demonstrators observed two-hour strike from 11:00am to 1:00pm in colleges and universities across the country on Sunday by suspending all classes and examinations.
