‘Quota issue being discussed at high levels’

Senior Correspondent: Cabinet Secretary M Shafiul Alam said, “There is no headway on the quota reform issue at this moment. But the issue is under consideration at the high levels of the government.”

The cabinet secretary said this while replying to a query of journalists after a meeting held at the secretariat on Monday noon.

Shafiul Alam said, “It's not an easy job to bring reform in the existing quota system as it needs more scrutiny. It needs more analysis to reach a decision on the issue. The issue is being discussed at the high levels of the government but we are not aware of it.”

Asked whether the quota issue was discussed in the cabinet meeting, he said, “No, the issue was not discussed.”
