Quota reform leader Faruk, 2 others land in jail

Staff Correspondent: A Dhaka court on Tuesday has sent three people including joint convener of Sadharon Chhatra Odhikar Songrokhon Parishad Faruk Hossen, to jail in two cases filed on charges of attack on DU VC residence, torching vehicles and sabotage.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Subrata Ghosh sent the accused to jail after DB inspector Bahauddin Faruqui produced them before the court seeking detention of them.

The other accused are Tariqul Islam and Jasimuddin.

Earlier on Monday, another joint convener of the quota reform platform Rashed Khan was remanded for five days in an ICT case filed by a BCL leader.

Earlier on April 8 during the quota reform movement, thousands of demonstrating students allegedly broke into the residence of DU VC and vandalized the place.

Three cases were filed with the Shahbagh Police Station in this connection.
