RAB operation at militant den, one held

Jhenaidah Correspondent: Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) conducted a drive at a house of Kaluhati village under Ganna union of Jhenaidah Sadar upazilla, suspecting a militant den.

RAB arrested a young man named Akhtaruzzaman Sagar after conducting a raid from 4.00am to 9.00am.

 

Akhtaruzzaman was a member of Jamaatul Mujahideen Bangladesh or JMB, claimed the RAB officials.

RAB-6 chief Wing Commander Hasan Emon Al Rajib said being informed of the possible existence of the militants, the RAB members raided a house owned by Sharafat in Kaluhati village at around 4am on Wednesday. The RAB members detained Sagar without any gunfight and took him away with them at around 9.00am.

Sagar has been suffering from mental illness for long, his father told reporters. He had returned home recently after receiving treatment in the Pabna Mental Hospital.

Sagar, who studied in Kaluhati madrasa, went missing from home several times, said his family.
